Ladybug — Coming Soon (Formerly known as Miraculous Ladybug)
Videos: 2D Animated PV | CGI Teaser | ZAG 2013
"Marinette and Adrien are two extraordinary junior high students. Close friends in the daily life, unknown team-mates the night. They transform into superheroes: Ladybug and Chat Noir. Missioned by Fu, the Guardian of the Orb, to capture evil creatures – the Akumas – led by Butterfly to transform anyone into a super villain and so to save Paris!
Right now Marinette will always have to struggle to juggle her two identities and her objectives: win Adrien’s heart in the daily life and stop the Butterfly in the Night. Maybe the second one is the easier for this reserved girl…Thanks to her earrings where Tikki - her Kwami with magical power – resides she is always ready to transform and to face enemies.” — A.B International DistributionA Zagtoon x Method Animation x Toei Animation Project
Have you heard of Ban Bossy? It’s the new initiative from Lean In and the Girl Scouts that’s trying to ban “bossy” and similar words that are used to bring down girls that are ambitious, take risks, and speak up. By changing the way we treat girls who lead, hopefully our generation will someday see more women in leadership roles.
I genuinely don’t understand the argument that masochism is “healthy” or a valid form of “therapy.” If you had a friend who you knew struggled with depression and one day you discovered this friend was cutting themselves or otherwise inflicting harm to themselves, would you just ignore it? There is nothing shameful about these things—I myself have suffered through many spells of depression and continue to struggle with it today, and I have also self-mutilated numerous times. But no one is delusional enough to call this “healthy” or “therapeutic.” So why is it “healthy” and “therapeutic” when you’re asking another person to do it to you? Short answer: it’s not. And it’s even more twisted when you take into account the fact that, asked or not, the person inflicting this upon you is enjoying it.
It’s not insulting to say that there are significantly more helpful and valid options of seeking help and therapy or to suggest that an individual who enjoys being beaten to seek these measures out. I’m tired of hearing this is “ableist.” You want to know true ableism? Acting offended or affronted by the suggestion, as if therapy or mental illnesses are offenses themselves, or insults. If you’d tell a friend to call a suicide hotline or see someone about the cuts they inflict on their bodies and the reasons behind why they feel these injuries are necessary or that they are deserving of them, don’t scream at me for encouraging others to do the same fucking thing, because the truth of the matter is that you don’t care about the victims in these situations—you want them to stay silent and keep asking the sadists to hurt them.
You’re only protecting abusers this way. You’re delusional for considering it anything else.
